About the Company

Under the artistic direction of Marlyn Attie, COCO Contemporary Dance Company operates through a project-based model that integrates creation, training, and interdisciplinary experimentation. Its repertoire encompasses works by core artists and commissioned pieces by international choreographers, fostering a continuous dialogue between diverse artistic practices and perspectives. Based in Panama City, Panama, the company is housed at Ciudad de las Artes.


About the Director

As a choreographer and director, Marlyn Attie is known for a collaborative and experimental style, where performers, artists, and professionals from other disciplines contribute to the creative process, enriching and expanding the expressive possibilities of dance.

Since 2016, she has created original works presented across various venues, countries, and festivals, reflecting her innovative and inquisitive artistic approach and earning recognition and distinction for her work. As co-director of the Fundación Espacio Creativo (FEC), she has received creation grants from institutions such as the Ministry of Culture of Panama, the U.S. Embassy in Panama, Iberescena, and the Inter-American Development Bank, among others.

Her academic background in business at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, combined with her art studies at Sarah Lawrence College in Florence, Italy, and a recent certificate in Personal Leadership from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, have been complementary tools in her training as a dancer—resources Marlyn has placed in service of the Panamanian artistic community.
